Welcome to an updated tour of our home! Since my taste in decor is always evolving, things never stay the same around here for very long! And that's okay!
I've tried to list my decor sources and paint colors, though I've lost a lot of those along the way. Please feel free to email us at fromthevintagefarm@yahoo.com if you have any questions!

Note: if you'd like to follow along with the very most recent projects going on around here, including the collective posts with pictures of how we've decorated for each of the seasons as they've come and gone, visit here.

Our $20.00 yard sale find from summer 2009.
This little gem had been in this older lady's family for years. It belonged to her great-grandfather who settled Chubbuck, Idaho back in the early 1900s. It had sat in her barn for YEARS AND YEARS and I'm pretty sure, from the smell, had housed about twenty litters of kittens. GROSS! Even Mr. Keller rolled his eyes when he saw me hand the gal her money, realizing he was going to have to take it home. With a little elbow grease and lots of disinfectant cleaner, this turned out to be a piece we will never ever let go. It's kind of our baby. And we love love love it.
While we were working on this piece, we found this old postcard tacked down to the bottom of one of the cupboards. It was from the 1930s from a daughter to her mother, who had been away for a while, talking about how much she missed her and that she needed help with her hand stitching.

Our Kitchen
Our cupboards were originally plain oak. We washed all the surfaces really well, then removed the cupboard doors. We primed all surfaces with Behr's interior primer from Home Depot. We painted three coats of Behr's Kitchen and Bath line in satin 'Antique White' (also from Home Depot). We then used a liquid glaze from Lowe's in the Valspar brand to go over all the cupboard surfaces to achieve that antiqued look. The liquid glaze color is 'Humboldt Earth'. We sealed the cupboards with Deft's clear coat sealant also available at Lowe's.
Although a paint sprayer would have made this go by so much faster, we did this all by hand. So, IT IS POSSIBLE. It just about killed us. It took us about two weeks, painting for only a few hours in the evening. But once it was all completed, we were so so so glad we made the effort. We love how it has turned out.
We purchased the hardware from Lowe's.
